Job DescriptionThe ASIC Architect (m/f/diverse) plays a strategic leadership role in the development of integrated circuits (ICs) for automotive applications. This role is responsible for defining and executing IC architecture based on stringent functional, quality and area efficiency requirements. The architect (m/f/diverse) collaborates closely with cross-disciplinary teams to formulate integration concepts and establish robust design architectures tailored to project types such as COT, Turn-Key, or ASSP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture Definition & Specification
- Developing IC architecture and creating supporting documentation
- Aligning interfaces between analog design, digital design and the external system
- Verifying architecture against component specifications and system requirements
- Specifying analog/digital design characteristics and interfaces within the component specification document
- Deciding on optimal design architecture in collaboration with other discipline architects
- Requirements Engineering & Concept Evaluation
- Collecting, discussing and evaluating design requirements with product architects, IC analog/digital architects and external partners (IDM, foundry, OSAT)
- Supporting system and IC concept development
- Contributing ideas for new concepts and improvements in system/IC design
- Effort Estimation & Planning
- Estimating block size and development effort for assigned work packages together with the COT technical project manager
- Coordinating definition, assignment and tracking of development work packages (if required)
- Tracking actual design effort and block size vs. planned development time and report discrepancies
- Risk Management & Quality Assurance
- Evaluating technical and development risks, defining mitigation plans and escalating as needed
- Applying configuration and change management processes consistently
- Applying quality assurance practices including lessons-learned, peer reviews and risk assessments
- Design & Verification Support
- Developing design-for-test concepts in collaboration with the test manager
- Reviewing verification results for analog and digital design with the design team
- Supporting ASIC suppliers with synthesis, post-layout simulations and technical reviews
- Process & Toolchain Improvement
- Actively contributing to continuous improvement of development processes, methods, and tool chains
- Academic degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics or comparable qualification
- Several years of experience in automotive product development
- Long-term experience in analog and digital IC design and testing
- Several years of experience in leading design teams
- Strong expertise in requirements engineering
- Deep knowledge of integrated circuits, especially high-voltage analog CMOS and BCD technologies
- Solid understanding of semiconductor technology and IC design methodology
- Proven ability to develop efficient designs with focus on reusability, effort and gate count optimization
- Proficiency in EDA tools and simulation environments
- Business fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken)
- Strong communication skills and customer orientation
