About the Role
The Business Intelligence and AI team at Caterpillar Financial Services is on a mission to make enterprise data easy to find, easy to use - and accessible through conversation.
We're looking for a hands-on AI Engineer to help bring AI to the heart of our data ecosystem. In this role, you'll lead research, prototyping, and development of solutions that bring business partners closer to data through conversational AI. You'll collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, architects, and leadership to create AI-powered experiences that unlock insights - through natural language, not just dashboards.

What you will have
- Experience building/configuring conversational AI, LLMs, GPT-based models, and AI agents
- Hands-on experience with Python and modern AI/ML libraries
- Experience with agentic frameworks and multi-agent orchestration
- Ability to rapidly prototype solutions across a range of technologies
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to partner effectively across data, engineering, and business teams
Top candidates will have
- Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search patterns
- Awareness of LLMOps best practices (prompt versioning, response monitoring, cost optimization, etc.)
- Experience with Snowflake Cortex or similar enterprise AI offerings
- Background in designing conversational AI UX flows
- Familiarity with Matillion, Business Objects, PowerBI, or Dataiku

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics or a related field, and a strong portfolio of applied AI work.

Summary Pay Range:
$92,880.00 - $160,788.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
