People Incorporated is seeking a passionate and creative Teaching Artist Contractor to join our Artability team, leading art groups in treatment and crisis facilities. We are seeking a candidate that has experience in various art forms and a strong desire to educate and inspire others in mental health settings through artistic expression. An ideal candidate will have experience, whether professionally or personally, in the field of mental health.
Location: Scattered mental health facilities in 7-county metro area
Schedule: June classes - Mondays at 2pm in St. Paul, Tuesdays at 10am in South Minneapolis, and Tuesday at 2pm in St Paul. Potential for hours to expand beginning in July.
Hiring Range: Contracted position, hourly rate negotiable. Typical range is $35-40/hour.
Main Job Duties:
- Leading 1 hour art groups in mental health facilities. The teaching artist designs and leads the lessons, with supplies that are provided by the Artability program.
- Teaching artists are able to bill for 15 minutes of prep and 15 minutes of cleanup in addition to their 1 hour groups.
- Volunteer participation in our annual art show each fall is encouraged but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Skilled in one or more art forms, evidenced by a portfolio of completed work
- Prior experience in leading art groups for participants of varying skill levels
- Passion for supporting individuals with mental health conditions in their recovery journey
