Madbox is a fast-growing mobile gaming company with a very unique way of developing games. Everything has been made for teams to take as much ownership as possible, unleash their creativity, bring performance, and have as much fun as possible.
In July 2022, we launched our Pocket Champs game worldwide which quickly became one of the top-grossing games in its category. In our fast-paced, tech-driven environment, we continuously innovate by developing and updating our proprietary tools, along with integrating third-party ones, to enhance game functionalities, ensure precise analytics, and comply with evolving regulations.
This dynamic ecosystem requires meticulous coordination to keep our games at the forefront of technology and user experience.

At Madbox, we empower our teams to push boundaries and craft innovative mobile games that make millions smile. If you're passionate about game making and excel in a high energy, warm, collaborative environment, join us as Art Director to be with an incredible team at the origin of the visual evolution of Pocket Champs.

As the Art Director for Pocket Champs, you will be responsible for the artistic excellence of our lead title. Your role is at the intersection of creative vision, team leadership, and production efficiency. You will ensure that every asset not only meets high-quality standards but also resonates with millions of players.

Your future responsibilities and scope:
  • Own the art vision for new features and seasonal content. You ensure that the game remains visually fresh, attractive, and aligned with its core pillars: accessible, inclusive, and unique.

  • Manage and grow a talented team of 6 (4 Game Artists and 2 UIUX). You are responsible for maintaining a high talent density, fostering a culture of feedback, and ensuring a high level of energy within the team.

  • Oversee the art pipeline to guarantee top-tier deliverables. You balance creative ambition with the technical constraints of a live mobile game, ensuring efficiency without compromising on "craft" quality.

  • Act as the primary artistic partner for the Game Director and other Managers. You contribute to the overall production strategy, ensuring art is a driver for the game’s long-term success.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all art-related topics, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation with the Development, Game Design, Communication and Marketing departments.

  • Proactively explore and integrate new AI-assisted processes for general productivity & art workflow, allowing the team to focus on high-value creative tasks.

The profile we are looking for:
  • 6+ years of experience in the free-to-play mobile game industry, with at least one experience on a scaled and live-operated title

  • Meaningful experience as a Lead Artist, Art Manager, Art Director, or similar

  • Strong background in managing creative teams. You know how to empower artists, resolve production bottlenecks, and leverage each person’s strengths for the project's benefit

  • You have a deep understanding of the F2P mobile games market. You know what makes a game visually successful over several years and understand how art influences player engagement and KPIs

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to guide a project's aesthetic and maintain high standards across 2D, 3D, and UIUX

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate a creative vision to both artistic and non-artistic stakeholders

  • Solid knowledge of the overall game production chain (Unity pipeline, technical art constraints, and collaboration with developers)

  • Have a good ability to communicate in English

  • Experience in game design, development, or prototyping

At Madbox, we value the mindset and how you can fit with our culture by sharing common values and creating great games together.
