Rabinowitz Photography is looking for an Art Consultant to turn their gallery visitors into collectors by hosting them warmly, sharing the stories
behind Adam Rabinowitz’s photographs with authenticity, and guiding them
towards the right image, edition, size and framing. You will ask for the sale
with confidence, follow up thoughtfully when a visitor needs more time, and
build lasting relationships with collectors and referral partners.
- Create welcoming, memorable
gallery experiences that lead to sales.
- Grow sales through
thoughtful conversations, confident closing and consistent follow-up.
- Help visitors discover the
full collection, including works at the Moorings gallery.
- Build relationships that
encourage repeat purchases and referrals.
- Maintain accurate customer
records, orders and sales information.
- Represent the photography
and its conservation context honestly and knowledgeably.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome visitors promptly
and learn what interests them before recommending a piece.
- Guide customers through
images, editions, sizes and framing options, and confidently ask for the
sale.
- Introduce interested
visitors to the Moorings gallery and host guided visits, including
tour-guide groups.
Storytelling
and product knowledge
- Learn the stories behind
the photographs, including the location, wildlife, conservation context
and Adam’s creative process.
- Keep your knowledge current
as new works are released.
Collector
relationships and follow-up
- Record serious enquiries
accurately in HubSpot, prepare draft orders and follow up promptly.
- Care for returning
collectors and build relationships with tour guides, concierges and other
referral partners.
Gallery
operations and teamwork
- Process sales accurately
and coordinate framing, packaging and shipping with the Operations team.
- Keep the galleries ready to
welcome visitors throughout the day.
- Participate in sales
meetings, coaching and pop-up activations, including setup and breakdown.
Requirements
- At least three years’
experience selling considered, high-value products or services face to
face, with a proven record of closing sales of more than R20,000 and
developing repeat customers.
- Experience in fine art,
jewellery, luxury retail, furniture and décor, hospitality, travel or
property would be valuable. Your sales results and approach to customers
matter more than the sector you come from.
- Warm, fluent spoken and
written English. An additional language relevant to international visitors
is an advantage.
- Genuine curiosity about
wildlife, Africa and photography, with the willingness to learn each
collection in depth.
- Confidence using an iPad,
point-of-sale system and CRM, with care for accurate records.
- A receptive approach to
coaching, strong personal initiative and sound judgement with customers
and colleagues.
- Legal authorisation to work
in South Africa and availability for a rotating four-days-on, two-days-off
roster, including weekends, public holidays and peak-season activations.
