We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, creating a community where colleagues feel respected and valued. We aim to reflect the diversity of our students and communities, and to strengthen our university through collaboration and diverse perspectives, across all roles at the University.

Background and Context
The University Library is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of all Library and associated scholarly services for the University. The vision for the University Library is for students and staff of the University to get access to and be able to use the knowledge they need to inform and support their teaching, learning, research, and knowledge exchange. This is achieved through the provision of value-adding services that support the acquisition, discovery and location, use and re-use, sharing, curation, preservation, application, and evaluation of that knowledge.
To enable this vision the University Library is structured into three teams, each constituting a pillar of core Library activity: Academic Library Services, Customer Experience & Insight, and Collections Development. The post of Archives Customer Experience Advisor sits within Hull University Archives (HUA), which is key constituent part of the Collections Development Team alongside Collections Administration. HUA is responsible for all aspects of the development and management of the University’s physical and digital archives, both produced by the University and deposited by others.
The post is based at Hull History Centre, which is a partnership between the University of Hull and Hull City Council, with the Council’s services being delivered on its behalf by Hull Culture and Leisure. The Centre holds the archive and local studies collections of those two organisations, and provides access to them through a joint service. Each organization manages its collections separately within the context of the partnership.
The History Centre has an ethos of excellent customer service, and its aims are to encourage and enable active public and academic involvement with archives and local history, and to stimulate research, learning and teaching for all.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post
The postholder provides a range of administrative and related duties to support Hull University Archives services in support of staff, students, and Archivist colleagues. The focus is on customer service, helping users of the Centre to access archives and local studies material, and answering enquiries. The postholder helps to support education and outreach programmes at the Centre, for example, by selecting material for an exhibition or activity. Support for the University’s learning and teaching activities, led by an Archivist, may include compiling subject guides and online resources. Cataloguing and collections management work takes place under the supervision of an Archivist.
The role-holder may be required to contribute to the work of other groups and teams in the University Library by carrying out other duties consistent with their grade.
