You ensure that KPN’s mobile network remains scalable, innovative, and ready for future demands. Your work drives the evolution of our RAN and Core architectures toward cloud-native, automated, and energy-efficient solutions. Not only do you define architectural principles and reference designs, you also guide network engineering teams and lead technology validation and vendor assessment activities.

Define and maintain the end-to-end mobile network architecture with focus on RAN and Core.
Develop reference architectures, blueprints, and long-term transformation roadmaps.
Lead technology evaluations, proofs of concept, and field trials (e.g., O-RAN, vRAN, AI/ML automation).
Translate business and customer needs into scalable and efficient architectural principles.
Contribute to vendor evaluations, strategic decision-making, and industry engagement (e.g., 3GPP, O-RAN Alliance).

You will join the Network & Cloud Architecture team: a group of strategic thinkers and domain specialists passionate about simplifying and modernizing the network. We work hybrid, collaborate closely, and continuously share expertise. You are analytical, communicative, and comfortable working at the intersection of strategy and technology. You maintain a clear architectural vision while understanding practical implementation realities. You collaborate effectively across teams and enjoy guiding others in making sound design decisions. To do this successfully, you will need:

A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or similar.
At least 10 years of experience in mobile network architecture or engineering.
Strong knowledge of 4G/5G RAN, Core, and cloud/virtualization platforms (OpenStack / Kubernetes).
Experience with EPC/5GC, IMS, and service-based architectures.
Familiarity with O-RAN/vRAN/Cloud RAN and network automation/orchestration frameworks.

As an employer, we offer you an attractive package, including:

• Gross monthly salary between €6,774,- and €10,701,- depending on your experience (based on 40 hours)
• A fixed 13th-month salary, partially paid monthly and partially in January, or you can allocate it to a FLEX & BOOST goal of your choice
• Annual individual and collective salary increases according to our collective labor agreement (CAO)
• €1,500 per year for personal development, which you can use for training, coaching, or courses

• Excellent pension plan: 23% total contribution, with KPN covering 16% and you contributing 7%
