YOUR IMPACT
The Aquatics Site Lead creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions for the pool, deck, and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The Aquatics Site Lead assists with overseeing fellow staff, office work, programming, and other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKE
No two days are the same in this role — but every day centers on ensuring aquatic programs run safely, smoothly, and consistently across sites.

  • Prepare the aquatic site for daily programming and review the swim lesson schedule.
  • Teach swim lessons as needed while meeting all Swim Instructor expectations.
  • Support and mentor new swim instructors and serve as a role model for aquatics staff.
  • Coordinate with Aquatics Site Leads and Directors on staffing and scheduling needs across sites.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as updating staff contact information, gathering grant information, and completing paperwork.
  • Communicate with members and participants about program updates, cancellations, or closures.
  • Remain present during programming to support staff and ensure programs run smoothly.
  • Address and report incidents, safety concerns, or damaged equipment promptly.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that reflects YMCA values and supports positive member experiences.

Your leadership supports staff success, enhances the experience for members and participants, and helps the YMCA deliver high-quality programming that builds confidence, skills, and community.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION: 1 Position
Position 1: Northeast Family YMCA
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Tuesday and Thursday 3:00 - 6:45 pm
Saturday 8:45 - 11:30 am
*Able to pick up extra shifts (lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons), working up to 25 hours per week
$15.75 per hour

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum age of 21
    • 12 months of Swim Instructor experience preferred
    • Certifications required: Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Use of Medical Oxygen
    • Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor or equivalent preferred
    • Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent preferred
    • YMCA’s I Hear You: Service with CARE to be completed
    • Complete Supervisor Essential Series upon hire
    • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
    • Current Praesidium Academy trainings
