Job Summary
Nordson EFD is seeking a motivated Application Engineering Manager to manage daily activities of the application engineering team for Nordson EFD, specializing in micro fluid dispensing solutions. This role consists of leading team through the review of applications and specifications in order to quote engineered systems that solve customers’ fluid dispensing challenges in the Americas. The Application Engineering Manager oversees and contributes to the design and development of systems, or the adaptation of existing equipment to fulfill customer needs, focusing on superior quality, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate ensures projects are completed on time and within budget, while acting as mentor to applications engineering team regarding projects, tasks and operations. This position will establish and facilitate daily management routines and key performance indicators to assure high-level of performance and productivity.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Lead application engineering team in the quoting and engineering of systems meeting customer specification and delivery requirements
Drive profitable growth in project-based business in the Americas, meeting or exceeding assigned targets
Display and guide strong customer passion, responsiveness, and superior communication in support of quoting, project management, and issue resolution within the application engineering team.
Manage and drive Opportunity Funnel to completion, meeting milestone dates, system performance requirements, and customer expectations
Participate in sale forecast meetings, record and communicate expected monthly and quarterly system demands to supply chain and operation
Manage open service log via billing and backlog AfO reports, assign personel and schedule with sale reps and customers
Utilize the Nordson Business System to drive continuous improvement; develop and enforce standard work practices for application engineering.
Demonstrate strong talent management ability to hire, train, and develop employees with increasing responsibilities
Collaborates with strategic marketing and engineering in market research, customer trends, technology analysis, and new product development
Conduct ongoing product training to all team members in commercial department
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
Strong engineering skills with 10+ years of experience in an industrial environment
Strong customer facing skills with a proven track record
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP, AfO) and Contact Management systems (C4C, Salesforce, Power BI) is a plus but not required
Experience leading or managing a team of engineers is a plus
