Job Description:

Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is hiring an entry to mid-level Application Engineer (0-5yrs of experience) specialized in power electronics. This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing technical position that bridges the gap between field demands and internal engineering solutions.

As part of the MPS applications team the candidate will collaborate with sales, FAEs, design, various product lines, and other engineering teams within MPS to support customer designs, deliver technical guidance, and accelerate market adoption of MPS power management products across data center, power over ethernet (PoE), communication, and industrial applications.

Also, the candidate will evaluate the customer's requirement regarding systems application and administering the technical, technological, and functional aspects of proposals. The candidate will provide technical support, educational technical training and product recommendations to FAEs in the sales organization. Participating in different seminars, conferences, and meetings for promotion will be another aspect to represent MPS in the field.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support customer design activities involving DC/DC converters (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, PMIC, LDO, etc.) 
  • Extensive lab duties in evaluating and troubleshooting power circuits at the board level.  
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align customer needs with product capabilities. 
  • Deliver technical presentations, demos, and hands-on support using MPS’ design tools. 
  • Help identify opportunities for new product features or enhancements based on customer feedback. 

Qualifications

  • BSEE or higher with a focus on power electronics or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in analog power management electronics, DCDC converter design & implementation, passive selection. (College/on-campus experience can be considered)
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and other various lab equipment.
  • Good understanding of schematics, layouts (PCB design tools)
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in fast-paced, challenging environments through self-motivation, a continuous desire to learn.

Location: San Jose, CA

MPS offers a comprehensive benefits package. Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The base salary range for this position in California is $110,000 - $160,000.
