Job Description:

Purpose and Scope

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Applications Engineer to design, develop, and propose customized equipment for Automated Material Handling Equipment projects. This role requires expertise in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software to create layouts, analyze customer requirements, and generate detailed technical proposals that align with project specifications and customer needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Develop and design customized equipment layouts using AutoCAD, SolidWorks
  • Work closely with sales and engineering teams to define project scope and technical requirements.
  • Generate detailed technical proposals, including equipment specifications, layout drawings, and cost estimates.
  • Analyze customer requirements and site conditions to ensure feasibility and efficiency of proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers to refine designs and optimize system performance.
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, RFQs, and presentations for customer projects.
  • Provide technical support during sales discussions, project planning, and implementation phases.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Automated Material Handling Equipment and industry trends.
  • Support field teams by providing installation documentation and technical guidance.
  • Participate in customer site visits as needed to gather data for project planning.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, system design, or related field.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent for equipment layout and design.

  • Strong understanding of material handling systems, conveyors, and automation equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.

  • Experience with cost estimation, project proposals, and bid preparation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Previous experience with Automated Material Handling Equipment, conveyor systems, or warehouse automation.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and control systems is a plus.
  • Loading dock logistics experience is a plus.
