Applications Engineer

Entegris is seeking an Applications Engineer for our site in Billerica, MA!

In this role, you will be responsible for leading application methods development and testing in support of a broad range of new liquid filtration & purification products used in fabrication of semiconductors. You will work in a very dynamic international environment with a talented team of engineers and scientists. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker that has experience in wet etch and cleans, lithography areas of semiconductor manufacturing with a desire solve challenging, often ambiguously defined, problems. In addition, the candidate must be a team player, being able to contribute as a member or lead a team as needed. 

Responsibilities: 

• Have a fundamental understanding of different wet clean semiconductor processes and toolsets used, and their filtration requirements. 

• Translate knowledge and understanding of customer applications into tangible criteria/requirements that internal Engineering/R&D teams need to achieve for successful product performance. 

• Work closely with field teams to work with customers and represent Entegris as an advanced technical expert on liquid filtration, helping solve complex problems and challenges. 

• Hands-on work in the lab to develop and run new test methods/process that represent customer applications - to enable rapid screening of new technologies/solutions internally. 

• Have a fundamental understanding of filtration mechanisms in different applications and utilize this knowledge of filters and customer applications to recommend/identify the appropriate filtration solution to solve a customer problem. 

• Translate knowledge and learnings from industry into actionable roadmaps and targets for R&D and Engineering teams to target during new product/technology development. 

• Work closely with Product Marketing to support development of product positioning and promotion strategies to help field teams provide customers with the right solution. 

• Capable of solving problems, internal and external, independently as well as part of a team (member or leader) through rigorous data collection, analysis and disposition. 

• Lead Application support as part of a cross functional team on customer taskforces to help solve critical customer challenges in a timely manner. 

• Champion Entegris technology leadership by participating to conferences and publish technical papers. 

Requirements: 

• 5+ years of experience working in semiconductor industry;
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with wet clean tools and/or processes;
• Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree in related technical discipline (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related fields); 
• Knowledge of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering principles (fluid flow, mass transfer and heat transfer) preferred;
• Understanding of the processes used to manufacturing integrated circuits, particularly filtration, equipment and technical trends are a plus;  Experience with basic filtration stand design, fabrication and assembly such that they can model customer systems using in house resources for proof of concept; 
• Experience with cleanrooms, facilities and custom equipment design is beneficial; 
• Ability to convey ideas and conclusions with data;
• Understanding of statistics, SPC, DOEs and familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies; 
• Some travel (domestic & international) should be expected.
