The Applications Development Senior Supervisor is responsible for providing full leadership and direction to a team of employees, while also engaging in hands-on technical work. This role is responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective is to lead application systems analysis and programming activities, manage the software development lifecycle, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead and actively participate in hands-on coding activities, driving the development of complex features and setting a high technical standard for the team.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews and implement best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure code.
- Manage and optimize the CI/CD pipeline, overseeing automated builds, testing, and deployment processes to ensure efficient and reliable application releases.
- Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of application releases, including planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring minimal disruption and high-quality outcomes.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the entire SDLC pipeline, from initial development environments to production support.
- Ensure the quality of tasks provided by self and others on the team, and influence decisions through advice or facilitating services that impact the team and closely related work teams.
- Manage an Applications Development team of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team (e.g., performance evaluations, training and development, hiring, and disciplinary actions).
- Recommend and implement new work procedures to increase process efficiencies and team productivity.
- Resolve complex issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents.
- Develop and apply a comprehensive knowledge of how the team's work integrates with other areas within applications development and the broader technology landscape.
- Serve as an advisor and coach to junior developers and analysts, fostering their technical and professional growth.
- Act as a backup to the Applications Development Manager.
- Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, exercising independence of judgment and autonomy.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and other team members.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in software development, including experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven experience in managing and implementing successful projects through the full SDLC.
- Strong, hands-on coding skills and extensive knowledge of software engineering and object-oriented design principles. This includes Java, Springboot, Microservices, usage of AI tools.
- Experience with dependency management, change management, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects.
- Experience with audit and compliance requirements within a technology context.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and mentoring skills.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
