Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Applications Architect to define, design, and guide enterprise-level application architectures in a large, distributed environment. This role involves leading architectural planning, ensuring system integration, and supporting governance processes while delivering robust, scalable, and compliant solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define the structure and relationships among solutions, including reusable components, software layering, interfaces, and quality metrics
  • Design and oversee application, database, and middleware interactions
  • Develop, implement, and manage enterprise-wide architectural solutions in distributed environments
  • Monitor systems and understand interactions across architectural layers
  • Define coding standards, limitations, and requirements
  • Develop enterprise architecture deliverables (models, documentation, artefacts)
  • Guide projects through enterprise architecture governance with technical oversight
  • Contribute to discovery-phase activities such as feasibility studies, options analysis, and cost estimation
  • Support procurement processes by developing architecture specifications and evaluating vendor proposals
  • Research, define, and maintain architecture standards, policies, and best practices
  • Conduct architecture reviews and assessments aligned with enterprise priorities
  • Provide expert advice to project teams, stakeholders, and leadership
  • Lead or participate in complex architecture investigations

Qualifications

General Skills

  • Strong leadership experience in solution and application architecture delivery
  • Extensive experience with enterprise systems, operating environments, databases, programming languages, and communication protocols
  • Expertise in application design, analysis, and structured development methodologies
  • Experience with middleware technologies and integration gateways
  • Experience using CASE tools, modeling tools, and project management software
  • Strong knowledge of data and process modeling, metadata, and data architecture
  • Awareness of emerging information technology trends
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in complex environments

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Experience with architecture modeling and CASE tools
  • Strong understanding of Information Management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and regulations (e.g., AODA)
  • Experience designing architecture for digital and physical credential ecosystems

Architecture Expertise

  • Ability to define and document technical and information architecture requirements
  • Experience preparing architecture plans, estimates, and governance artefacts
  • Proven capability in solution, business, and information architecture documentation
  • Strong experience designing multi-tier enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of security and privacy requirements in architecture design

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design
  • Experience designing functional and technical requirements
  • Experience with workflow systems and dynamic forms
  • Familiarity with large-scale enterprise application development and maintenance

Assignment Details

  • Onsite role, Monday to Friday
  • 7.25 hours per day during standard business hours

Must-Have Skills

  • Experience creating Business, Solution, and Information architecture documentation
  • Ability to produce architecture artefacts including logical and information data models
  • Experience defining and obtaining approval for architecture requirements
  • Ability to develop and maintain architecture policies and standards
  • Experience ensuring alignment with enterprise policies and industry best practices
