Job Description

As an Application Engineer, you will work in the Test Center Recycling, which is part of the Technical Department. Your main responsibility is testing machines, software, and applications for TOMRA customers and other company departments.

You will conduct tests for potential and existing customers to demonstrate the performance of our machines. This also includes feasibility studies for brand owners and the validation of new prototypes and software versions. You will document and present the results to Sales, customers, and internal teams.

Additionally, you will support Sales in designing customer processes upon request and assist the local Manufacturing and Service teams when needed.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, operation and documentation of tests in the Test Center
  • Summarizing and providing of test results to Sales and R&D
  • Support of optimization on customer’s site for applications and machines
  • Support of prototype testing
  • Testing and evaluation of new applications

Qualifications

  • A degree in waste management, disposal engineering, process engineering, environmental or recycling technology, or a related field
  • Fluency in German and English (minimum B2 level)
  • A hands-on mindset and willingness to work on-site in Mülheim-Kärlich daily
  • A valid Class B driver’s license and willingness to travel internationally occasionally
  • Strong technical affinity for optics, sensor technology, mechanics, and software
  • An open and communicative personality with a customer-oriented approach
  • A structured and precise working style, strong coordination skills, and analytical thinking
  • A proactive, solution-driven mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team
