Summary Generated by Built In

At Nexperia Manchester, we are expanding our Applications team with the addition of a Senior Application Engineer. Our Power MOSFET groups supply high-quality devices to the automotive, industrial, computing, and consumer sectors, providing advanced solutions for the electrification of the automotive industry and the high-density power requirements of AI and data centre infrastructure.

We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer who is passionate about - and ideally experienced working on - AI infrastructure or Data Centre power systems. In return, we can offer you a place in a growing team, travel opportunities, huge scope to continue your development and make a real impact on a global semiconductor manufacturer producing over 100 billion devices every year.

What you will do

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will be jointly responsible for the development of high-reliability power protection solutions for AI and data centre server racks. You will build a solid understanding of next generation 48V power distribution architectures and partner with the data centre team to support new business development in the hyperscale computing market.

Duties will include:

  • Designing, debugging, and validating hot-swap protection and eFuse implementations for high-density rack systems
  • Performing detailed MOSFET Safe Operating Area (SOA) characterisation and thermal validation
  • Creating technical literature, demo boards, and reference models for 48V power distribution systems
  • Defining new product specifications based on customer inputs and market trends
  • Providing expert technical support to global sales teams and customers to resolve complex power delivery challenges

What you will need

Essential

  • A Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a relevant discipline
  • Passion and experience working on AI infrastructure or Data Centre power systems
  • Proven expertise in circuit simulation (e.g. SIMPLIS, LTspice, PSpice etc) and PCB design.
  • The legal right and willingness to travel globally, occasionally on short notice to key technology hubs (e.g. USA/Asia) without significant visa processing delays

Experience of the following would be beneficial

  • Power electronics: 48V distribution, OR-ing FETs, Hot-Swap controllers, and high-current MOSFET switching
  • Applications: Server Power Supplies (CRPS), AI Accelerators, and high-reliability rack protection
  • Advanced Simulation: FEA, SPICE modelling (device level), and thermal analysis.
