Summary: Reporting to the Development Manager, the Appian Developer will be vital to the success of the engineering, integration, and assurance pillar The Appian Developer provides support, maintenance and development of the Appian System. They will work within a growing IT team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in backlog refinement, estimation of work, and sprint planning activities.
• Design, develop, and implement Appian applications including interfaces, process models, records, and integrations.
• Analyse and translate business requirements into technical Appian solutions.
• Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing activities.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve defects and production issues.
• Participate in daily stand-ups and agile ceremonies.
• Integrate Appian applications.
• Maintain and enhance existing Appian applications.
• Provide technical input and recommendations to improve processes and solutions.
• Ensure adherence to Appian best practices and development standards.
• Support audit and compliance processes.

- Ensure that solutions are developed in line with departmental standards and aligned with strategic direction.
- Participate in estimation and planning of development activities
- Support change requests from requirements gathering through to implementation and defect resolution.
- Perform triage of issues and track them through to closure.
- Undertake development and configuration work within the Appian platform.
- Collaborate with team members to support the design of efficient and scalable solutions.
- Promote adherence to governance, standards, and architectural principles.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet requirements
- Ensure appropriate development, testing, and deployment processes are followed.
- Identify and escalate potential risks proactively.
- Support audit activities and documentation requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the Appian development practice..
- Escalate platform-related issues (e.g. environment, performance, access) to Appian Admin or Snr Devs
- Work with the business and functional team members to ensure that designs and solutions receive approval and follow governance.
- Undertake work as required to improve the wider application landscape.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Support colleagues in understanding Appian capabilities and solutions.
- Ensure solutions are secure, performant, and maintainable.
- This role does not include responsibility for Appian platform administration, environment management, or infrastructure monitoring.
Experience:
- Experience developing applications on the Appian platform (ideally 1–3 years or equivalent exposure).
- Familiarity with Appian components.
- Understanding of relational databases and SQL.
Experience integrating systems.
Experience supporting production systems and handling defects. - Appian Associate Developer qualification.
