Location: Remote - USA

Reports To: Director, Business Analytics

Salary Range: $120,000 - $155,000

Position Summary

This is a partnership role first, and you also own the build. As an Analytics Business Partner, you'll be embedded with IEM's Data and Analytics team and become the go-to person for data. Leaders will call you when a number moves, when a decision needs evidence, or when they aren't sure which question to ask. You'll be part of the Business Analytics team within IEM's Data and Analytics team, with the Data Platform team behind you for the data models and pipelines your work runs on. You'll build with AI, not by hand, so your time goes into understanding the business, not into dashboard mechanics. Your job is to understand your area well enough to have an informed opinion about what the data says, and to help leadership act on it. You'll have direct access to leadership and real influence over how a $1B+ manufacturer runs.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are hiring for the top of the field, not the average candidate. You have worked inside or alongside a business team long enough to know how it runs, and leaders in that team have trusted you with their hardest questions. You are sharp with numbers, curious about why things happen, and direct enough to say so when the data contradicts the room. You already use AI tools as a normal part of how you work, and you can show what that changed. In this role, success looks like this: leaders in your area bring you in before decisions are made, you can point to decisions that came from your analysis, and your area runs on one trusted set of metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a Thought Partner, Not an Order-Taker: Work directly with leaders in your area to understand the problems they're trying to solve. Then figure out what data is needed, whether it exists, whether it's accurate, and what it means. Push back when the question being asked isn't the right one.
  • Diagnose, Don't Just Report: When a KPI moves, get to the root cause and come back with a recommendation, not just a chart and "that's what the data shows."
  • Own the Analytics Roadmap for Your Area: Shape requests before they become tickets, prioritize work by business value and ROI, and decide with your leaders what gets built, what gets retired, and what doesn't need a dashboard at all.
  • Define and Maintain Your Area's Metrics: Work with SMEs to define KPIs and document the business logic to the Business Analytics team's standards, then work with Analytics Engineers to build them into the governed data layer so the same number means the same thing in every report.
  • Strengthen the Data Foundation Where It Touches Your Area: Work hands-on with system owners (ERP, HR, CRM, etc.) to find data quality issues and reconcile definitions and drive fixes at the source with the system owners and the Data Platform team so they don't come back.
  • Own the Build for Your Area: Design, build, and maintain your area's analytics end to end using BI and AI tools, with the analytical story built in. You decide what gets built and what good looks like, and you validate and QA everything before it is published. Partner with Analytics Engineers on dbt models and certified data sources, and with Data Engineers when you need new source data.
  • Run the Business Rhythm with Your Leaders: Help design and run your area's operating reviews, support planning and goal-setting, and own recurring leadership reporting, including written summaries that explain what changed and why.
  • Grow Data Capability in Your Area: Train users, drive adoption, and help leaders get comfortable answering their own questions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or a data-driven operations role, with a track record of analysis that changed business decisions.
  • Real knowledge of the business area you'll support, or years of embedded experience inside that kind of team. This is heavily weighted in our evaluation.
  • Analytical depth, not just visualization skills. You can take a metric that looks wrong, form a hypothesis, test it in the data, and explain a clear finding to a non-technical audience.
  • Hands-on experience using Tableau and AI tools to build analytics and speed up analysis, with examples of the impact.
  • Consultative instincts and the confidence to tell leaders what they need to know, not just what they asked for.
  • Experience working across multiple source systems and with the SMEs who own them, including reconciling definitions and building trust in the numbers.
  • Strong judgment on how to present data: you know which view answers the question, and you can tell when an AI-built result is wrong.
  • Strong SQL. Familiarity with Snowflake and dbt, or a demonstrated ability to get there fast, so you can work closely with Analytics Engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, including ERP data structures.

Location

Fully remote within the United States. May require up to 20% travel to IEM facilities to work with the leaders and teams in your area.
