Analyst - Grade 1 - Inorganics

ALS Laboratories is looking for a Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 to join our Inorganics team at our Coventry laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a chemistry background and a keen interest in analytical chemistry who is looking to build a career in environmental testing. 

In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing and analysing samples, following established laboratory procedures, and accurately recording results while maintaining high quality standards and meeting business targets. We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a methodical approach, a passion for science, and a commitment to producing accurate results.

Hours Per Week: 37
Days Per Week: Sunday to Thursday (08:00 - 16:00 )
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
Salary: £25,878 per annum

The Day to Day

• Understand customer requirements.

• Ensure samples are completed efficiently and effectively following all process, procedures, and legislation.

• Deliver on key performance indicators.

• Report and understand analytical data.

• Participate in the Taste and Odour panel on a rotational basis following screening.

• Assist team members to achieve work objectives.

• Proactively ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures

The Essentials

• Qualifications required are a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C (equivalent to the new Grade 4) or above, which must include Chemistry (essential), as well as Mathematics and English. Applicants must also hold an A level, or equivalent qualification, in Chemistry or a closely related scientific subject, with a strong emphasis on chemical principles and laboratory practice.

• Ability to follow instructions and procedures, with a willingness to learn.

• Client focused approach with a solution oriented mindset.

• Excellent communication skills

• Computer literate

• Ability to plan and organise own work area.
