The EMEA Transactional Business Planning & Insights Analyst plays an important role in supporting data-driven decision-making across Sony Pictures' International Home Entertainment business.

Working alongside the Senior Managers, the Analyst provides analytical support through the preparation of reports, dashboards, forecasting models and commercial insights that enable informed business decisions across EMEA.

This role is ideally suited to an inquisitive and technically capable analyst who enjoys working with large datasets, identifying trends and solving business problems through data. The successful candidate will help maintain the reporting and analytical infrastructure that supports Business Planning & Insights while continually looking for opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes and uncover new commercial insights.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, EMEA Transactional Business Planning & Insights, the Analyst will work closely with Commercial, Finance, Marketing, Research and Global colleagues to ensure accurate, timely and insightful analysis that supports forecasting, planning and retailer engagement.

Whilst knowledge of the Home Entertainment industry is beneficial, the role is primarily focused on analytical capability, technical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. Industry knowledge and forecasting methodologies can be developed through experience within the role.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Analytics

  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports that support Commercial, Finance and Business Planning teams across EMEA.
  • Build and maintain dashboards using Tableau, Power BI or similar reporting tools to provide clear and actionable business insights.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, anomalies and emerging business issues.
  • Develop reporting solutions that improve visibility of business performance and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, timely and presented in a clear and meaningful way.

Data Management & Business Intelligence

  • Maintain and validate datasets used across Business Planning & Insights activities, ensuring high levels of accuracy and consistency.
  • Support the management of reporting databases and analytical models across multiple business areas.
  • Perform regular data quality checks and investigate anomalies where identified.
  • Assist in integrating multiple internal and external data sources to create meaningful commercial insights.
  • Contribute to maintaining a single source of truth for Business Planning & Insights reporting.

Forecasting & Commercial Support

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of forecasting models for New Release and Catalogue planning.
  • Produce financial reports and variance analysis to support business planning activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of analytical material for retailer meetings, Joint Business Planning sessions and commercial reviews.
  • Provide analytical support for pricing, promotions and title performance evaluations.
  • Support budget and forecasting submissions through accurate data preparation and model maintenance.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve reporting processes through automation and simplification.
  • Develop more efficient reporting solutions using Excel, Tableau, SQL, Power BI or other analytical tools.
  • Explore emerging technologies, including AI-assisted analytical tools, that could improve efficiency and insight generation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across reporting, forecasting and analytical processes.

Collaboration & Global Alignment

  • Build effective relationships across Commercial, Finance, Marketing, Research and Global teams.
  • Support Senior Managers by preparing analysis and presentations for business reviews and customer meetings.
  • Share insights and analytical findings clearly with colleagues across the business.
  • Contribute to a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.

Knowledge

  • Around 1-3 years' experience in an analytical, reporting, business intelligence or commercial analysis role.
  • Experience working with large datasets and producing meaningful business insights.
  • Exposure to business reporting, dashboards or performance analysis within a commercial environment.
  • Solid grounding in financial planning, forecasting, and performance analytics.
  • Experience in digital distribution, home entertainment, or global media strategy, with a strong understanding of the digital transactional home entertainment business, including commercial models and market drivers desired but not essential.
  • Experience working across multiple international territories, with exposure to EMEA markets would be beneficial.

Skills

  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience using Tableau, Power BI or similar Business Intelligence tools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data.
  • Experience using reporting databases and data visualisation tools.
  • Experience with Python, Alteryx or AI-enabled analytical tools would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of presenting findings to senior stakeholders with clarity and impact.
