Job DescriptionTo establish a leading, top ranked, Equity Research Franchise with external and local (in country) institutional investors.
Essential Function:
- The Investment Analyst, Industrials is responsible for idea generation leading to analyzing, writing and marketing the SBG Securities recommendation and investment thesis on the companies listed in the Industrial sector of the JSE.
- The role of the analyst is broadly to develop a view of the macro, sector and broader industry drivers and risks and to use these views as inputs into a financial model (developed by the analyst). The model outputs are financial and earnings forecasts and a valuation (often based on various methods) of the companies under coverage. The role includes idea generation, analysis and writing of reports in formation of the investment view and stock recommendation. This investment view is then marketed to institutional, internal and other stakeholders and clients. Balancing idea generation, analysis, writing and marketing skills is a key analyst requirement.
- Analysis and writing of deep dive thematic research and analysis support the investment view.
- The analyst also develops relationships with the 3Cs of the companies covered and uses these relationships as well as industry experts to host conferences, roadshows and other events for institutional and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Type of Qualification: Masters Degree
Field of Study: Financial degree to honors or master's level, CA(SA) or CFA or direct industry experience is preferred
