This position drives retail fuel financial performance by delivering competitive pricing decisions, strategic business modeling and data driven decisionsthat optimize margin and volume for the ADUSA Brands. The position will also be responsible for reviewing, analyzing,deciding and implementing optimized site-specific fuel price points that are consistent and support the banner go-to-market retail pricing strategies, ensuring compliance with state-specific fuel pricing laws. This position will cross reference, analyze, and balance product costs, competitive pricing activities, budget expectations, and industry trend data points to create and implement competitive fuel retails. The Analyst serves as the organization's subject matter expert for all fuel retail related needs, providing guidance and leadership to cross functional teams while creating strategic decision tactics and fostering alignment across the business.
***Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office location inculde Carlisle, PA.
Essential job functions:
- Decides and refines individual site strategies for over 200+ ADUSA fueling facilities, optimizing fuel profitability and sales in alignment with budget expectations.
- Leverages the retail analytics platform, data analysis, and decision-making tools to develop and maintain a robust competitive platform.
- Analyze and make decisions to drive margin while minimizing gallon impact.
- Develop and update optimized retail pricing strategies based on current critical data points, historical information, and industry trends to balance volumes and margins.
- Collaborate with brand Real Estate departments to provide data-driven fuel metrics, profitability analysis, and ROI modeling to inform lease renewals and new site investment decisions.
- Develop and implement fuel pricing strategy for Distribution Center operations, supporting the launch and long-term financial performance of this new business initiative.
- Serve as the 'system expert' for the retail fuel pricing application, optimizing and learning new key features.
- Validates data received from multiple internal and external sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness; investigates and resolves discrepancies by performing detailed research and troubleshooting.
- Scans the marketplace to identify new competitors and recommend data driven actions to maintain a strong competitive position.
- Conducts multiple daily retail reviews of each site to ensure optimal positioning is maintained within established market areas, supporting data driven and market responsive decision-making.
- Monitoring commodity market changes, identifying volatile timeframes, and understanding when to deploy alternative strategies to preserve site specific sales/profits. Closely monitor competitive responses to alternate strategies employed.
- Understand and comply with State and Federal legislative regulations such as anti-trust and price gouging laws, and the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Agency, providing site data information as requested. Always keeping the business compliant.
- Extracts existing reports or develops new data driven insights using tools such as Power BI, IDW, CDW, Sequel and the Retail Analytics platform to visualize trends, gallons, and operating income to make informed strategic decisions.
- Compiles accurate weekly, period, quarterly, and annual reports ensuring accuracy of fuel financial statements, and completes requests for ad-hoc reports.
- Collaborating with the brands' finance departments providing insights, coordination, development, and preparation of the annual Brands' fuel budgets and forecasts - fuel sales, gallons sold and gross profit dollars.
- Identifies and assesses fuel financial variances based on knowledge and expertise providing insight and advice for senior management and other end users regarding accounting issues that arise from reconciliation or reported financial results.
- Presents and share key insights, market trends, and relevant industry updates with ADUSA Banner partners to support strategic alignment and informed decision-making.
- Rotating & Flexible schedule to include hours from 7AM to 6PM, including weekends & holidays.
- Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support company values.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent business experience.
- 2+ years with experience in retail fuel operations, fuel or related field.
- Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to interpret competitive data and translate insights into pricing actions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Ability to work rotating & flexible schedule to include hours from 7AM to 6PM, including weekends & holidays.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Power BI, IDW & CDW for data reporting, and visualization. SQL knowledge a plus
- Kalibrate or similar retail analytics applications
- Demonstrates the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations, making sound decisions, and providing clarity when direction or data may be incomplete.
- Ability to influence without direct authority
IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $72,880 - $109,320
Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
