The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network. The people, processes, and technology that support this vital function are evolving to improve the merchant experience and economics. Within GMNS, the Global Strategy, Operations & Performance (GSOP) team’s mission is to deliver a best-in-class premium merchant member experience that will get merchant to not only accept American Express but openly welcome and recommend us to their customers.
The Analyst will support operational policy adherence programs, enforcement and governance activities along with Brand Protection process. These programs and activities are critical to strengthening overall Network Compliance performance, increasing customer satisfaction, timely and accurate closure to participant disputes and protecting the American Express brand.
Responsibilities- Support and drive end-to-end compliance initiatives, from problem definition through implementation and monitoring,
- Ensure adherence to Network and Brand Protection policies, including alignment across Authorization and Submission constructs.
- Manage escalations and support investigations into potential policy breaches or brand risks, with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with Partner Managers, Regulatory Compliance, GMNS Policy and Data teams to drive Network policy compliance across Issuers & Acquirers (GMS & GNS)
- Design and operationalize processes and controls to address compliance gaps and support audit readiness.
- Drive Monitoring KRIs and ensure SLA is met.
- Analyze Network Participant performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunity areas, drive insights to action
- Support development of analytics and automation solutions (e.g., dashboards, monitoring frameworks) to strengthen control effectiveness
- Contribute to governance activities including non-compliance assessments, risk evaluations, and remediation tracking
- Stay informed on regulatory and industry changes impacting Network compliance and policy adherence
- Lead and manage a team of ~10 colleagues, driving efficiency, quality, and performance outcomes while fostering engagement and motivation through effective leadership
Graduate/Postgraduate, additional certification like Business Management, Project Management, Data analytics, Risk/ Compliance, or related fields would be preferred, with 3+ years of relevant experience
Key Skills:
- Experience in Compliance, Risk Management, Audit, or Policy Governance preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, logical approach. - People leadership skill in previous roles would be preferred.
- Ability to manage initiatives independently and support building processes and controls.
