Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SCOM Consultant with 5+ years of hands-on experience

in designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing Microsoft System Center

Operations Manager (SCOM) environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong

expertise in end-to-end SCOM solution deployment, monitoring strategy development,

management pack customization, performance tuning, and operational support across

enterprise IT environments.

Key Responsibilities

SCOM Design & Implementation

• Design, architect, and deploy Microsoft SCOM solutions for enterprise

environments.

• Perform end-to-end SCOM implementations including planning, installation,

configuration, and migration activities.

• Configure Management Groups, Management Servers, Gateways, Web Console,

Reporting, and Data Warehouse components.

• Develop monitoring strategies aligned with business and operational

requirements.

Monitoring & Operations

• Implement proactive monitoring for Windows Server, Linux, VMware, SQL Server,

Exchange, Active Directory, Azure, and business-critical applications.

• Configure alerts, notifications, dashboards, distributed applications, and

service-level monitoring.

• Analyze monitoring data and provide recommendations for infrastructure

optimization and capacity planning.

• Ensure high availability and performance of the SCOM infrastructure.

Management Pack Administration

• Deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft and third-party Management Packs.

• Create and customize Management Packs, monitors, rules, discoveries, views,

dashboards, and reports.

• Develop custom monitoring solutions using PowerShell, WMI, SNMP, and

scripts.

Maintenance & Support

• Perform SCOM upgrades, patching, health checks, and performance tuning.

• Troubleshoot and resolve SCOM infrastructure issues, agent failures, alert

storms, and monitoring gaps.

• Manage agent deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

• Prepare operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer

materials.

Reporting & Automation

• Develop custom reports and dashboards using SCOM Reporting and Power BI

integration.

• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell and System Center components.

• Integrate SCOM with ticketing and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

2016/2019/2022.

• Experience in end-to-end SCOM solution architecture, deployment, and

administration.

• Expertise in Management Pack authoring and customization.

• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SQL

Server, and Azure services.

• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.

• Knowledge of monitoring Linux/Unix systems through SCOM.

• Experience with SCOM reporting, dashboards, and performance tuning.

• Understanding of enterprise monitoring best practices and ITIL processes.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with System Center Suite (SCCM/MECM, SCVMM, Orchestrator).

• Experience integrating SCOM with ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms.

• Exposure to Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft monitoring ecosystem.

• Knowledge of cloud and hybrid monitoring architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Microsoft certifications related to System Center, Azure, or Windows Server are

preferred.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage enterprise-scale monitoring

environments.

• Experience in documentation, knowledge transfer, and customer-facing

administration, and support projects.

• Experience managing large-scale enterprise monitoring environments with

thousands of monitored devices.
