The Role
Design, implement, test, debug, and optimize signal-processing algorithms that convert field sensor data into accurate 3D underground maps. Translate mathematical models and research into production code, validate results against ground truth, collaborate with algorithm, systems, and field teams, and develop deep knowledge of sensor operation. The role requires independent learning, ownership, analytical thinking, and effective communication in a multidisciplinary environment.

Description

Exodigo is the leading underground mapping solution for non-intrusive discovery. Our platforms combine multi-sensor fusion, 3D imaging, and AI technologies to create complete, accurate underground maps that enable confident decision-making for customers across the built world. We transform the project lifecycle for our customers, who include key community stakeholders in the utilities, transportation and government sectors.

We are experiencing sky-rocketing growth and closed a historically large $96M Series B round in July of 2025.

Job description

The Algorithms Team at Exodigo develops the core signal processing and algorithmic engines that power our underground mapping technology. Our algorithms transform raw sensor data collected in the field into accurate, production-grade 3D maps of the underground world - work that sits at the heart of everything we deliver to customers.

This role is an opportunity for an algorithm developer with a strong foundation in signal processing to grow inside a highly multidisciplinary environment, working closely with senior algorithm developers, system engineers, and field teams. You will take on real, well-defined problems from day one, with the guidance and mentorship to grow quickly - but also the expectation that you will dig in, learn independently, and take ownership of your work.

Engineers in our team take true ownership. As an Algorithm Developer, you will take responsibility for the algorithms you build, follow them from concept through implementation and validation, and see the direct impact of your work on real underground maps used in real civil engineering projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, implement, and test signal processing algorithms for analyzing sensor data collected in the field.
  • Translate mathematical models, research papers, and theoretical approaches into working, efficient, production-quality code.
  • Take ownership of algorithmic components you develop - from initial implementation through testing, validation, and refinement.
  • Debug and optimize existing algorithms for accuracy, performance, and robustness under real-world, noisy field conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with senior algorithm developers, system engineers, and field operations to define requirements and validate results against ground truth.
  • Independently research and learn new techniques, tools, and domain knowledge as problems demand it.
  • Develop a deep, hands-on understanding of our sensors - down to their inner workings - in order to extract the maximum capability from them and to guide field teams in using them effectively.
Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of signal processing fundamentals (Fourier analysis, filtering, sampling, spectral analysis, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in Python for algorithm development.
  • Comfortable with basic software engineering practices (version control, testing, clean code).
  • Strong autodidactic ability - able to independently learn new topics, tools, and research material without needing constant guidance.
  • Strong ownership mindset - follows through on tasks, takes responsibility for outcomes, and does not need to be micromanaged.
  • Good analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary environment where problems are real, physical, and not always fully defined.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with C/C++ for performance-critical implementations.
  • Familiarity with machine learning basics as applied to signal or sensor data.
  • Exposure to real-time, embedded, or hardware-integrated systems.
  • Academic project, thesis, or personal project involving signal processing.
  • Experience working with geospatial data, GNSS, or positioning technologies.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted workflows and tools to improve development velocity or code quality.
