Our mission is to improve health equity by expanding access to cancer precision medicine.
Trial Library, Inc. is a venture-backed startup founded in 2022 on a mission to advance equity in oncology clinical trials.
We are a diverse team of experts who believe that health equity starts with patient and provider empowerment. We believe that inequities in clinical trial access need to be addressed creatively and intentionally. We believe that inclusive research environments can answer questions that improve health outcomes for all, not just the few who participate in clinical trials. We believe in the power of technology to disseminate high quality health information about clinical trials sustainably. We believe in the power of representation in online health communication.
We are seeking a talented and experienced AI/ML Engineer to join our team. This role will be pivotal in advancing the application of AI and machine learning throughout Trial Library’s suite of solutions to accelerate clinical trial recruitment. This role will play a critical role in enhancing our current use of large language models (LLMs) for abstracting data from clinical trials and medical records. This role will also identify new AI/ML applications to streamline clinical trial matching, improve operational workflows, and optimize decision-making for all stakeholders.
Your Responsibilities
- Build, train, and deploy AI/ML models to enhance data abstraction, clinical trial matching processes, and other clinical trial-specific applications
- Conceptualize and prototype new AI/ML-driven products and software features to enhance clinical trial pre-screening and navigation services
- Design, test, and refine prompts to maximize the performance of LLMs for abstracting data from clinicaltrials.gov and other sources
- Develop and maintain AI/ML pipelines for integration into production systems
- Work with healthcare and clinical trial datasets, ensuring compliance with privacy and regulatory standards (e.g. HIPAA)
- Operate with high levels of autonomy and take end-to-end ownership of AI/ML projects
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field
- Previous startup experience or demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment
- 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a proven track record of deploying production-grade AI/ML models
- Strong experience with LLMs (e.g. Claude, GPT, T5, BERT), prompt engineering, and fine-tuning transformer models
- Experience with healthcare data or clinical trial datasets is a significant plus
- Strong knowledge of natural language processing techniques and tools
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP) for model deployment
- Familiarity with database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL) and data integration pipelines
- Respect for compliance and privacy requirements in healthcare (e.g. HIPAA)
