We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI Specialist to join our team, with a focus on developing and advising on AI governance frameworks, ethical guidelines, and policy. This role combines deep technical acumen with a strategic understanding of legislation, data privacy, AI safety, and responsible AI practices. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and clients to shape the future of ethical AI use across industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and advise on AI governance frameworks: including responsible AI principles, ethical use policies, and alignment with global and local regulatory landscapes.
- Conduct AI risk assessments and advise on the operationalisation of AI-related legislative requirements (e.g., EU AI Act, Australiaโs AI principles).
- Lead and participate in whiteboard and ideation sessions with internal stakeholders (e.g., Jase) to explore and solve technical and governance challenges in AI deployment.
- Collaborate with clients to create AI policies, guardrails, and oversight structures that align with their data strategies and business objectives.
- Provide thought leadership on AI ethics, including fairness, transparency, accountability, and bias mitigation.
- Translate complex AI and data issues into clear policy recommendations for executive stakeholders and government bodies
- Partner with data teams to ensure AI models are explainable, auditable, and governed through the right processes and tools.
- Stay ahead of emerging global AI legislation and best practice frameworks, sharing insights and implications with clients and internal teams.
What You Bring
- Strong understanding of AI and machine learning technologies, particularly in relation to ethical deployment and governance.
- Demonstrated experience in writing and implementing AI policies, frameworks, and governance documentation.
- Familiarity with legislative and regulatory environments related to AI, such as GDPR, EU AI Act, Australiaโs Responsible AI Framework, etc.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including data scientists, engineers, legal, and risk/compliance teams.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into meaningful strategic insights.
- A passion for responsible and human-centred AI.
Requirements
- Background in AI/ML, data science, or a related technical field (bonus: postgrad studies in ethics, policy, or law)
- Experience contributing to government or industry white papers or thought leadership on AI policy and governance.
- Exposure to data governance platforms (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, or Microsoft Purview) and how they can support AI oversight.
