Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a AI Network Software Engineer (f/m) to join our Technology & Innovation Lab department based in Boulogne-Billancourt (Paris), France.
You will join an innovation and engineering team working on the design, development, and evolution of advanced networking solutions.
The position offers the opportunity to engage with modern networking paradigms, contribute to technically challenging projects, and participate in the evolution of next-generation network architectures.
The position focuses on IP networks and Software-Defined Networking (SDN), with a strong emphasis on software-based approaches to network control, automation, and programmability.

Your challenges:
Contributing to the design and evolution of IP and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) architectures, including control, management, and data-plane aspects
Developing software components related to network control, automation, and orchestration (e.g. SDN controllers, VNFs, network services, APIs, tooling)
Defining test scenarios and validation strategies for network and SDN solutions, including functional and performance testing
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (Machine Learning, networking, software, systems) to prototype and evaluate innovative networking concepts
Producing technical documentation related to architecture choices, implementations, and validation results
Participating in technical reviews, demonstrations, and presentations of developed solutions
Participating in the creation of intellectual property and its dissemination through patents and/or publications.
Your profile:
Min 5 years of professional experience
Strong understanding of IP networking concepts, including protocols, routing, switching, and traffic engineering
Solid knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) concepts and architectures
Experience with software-based networking technologies and frameworks (e.g. SDN controllers, network virtualization, NFV, VNF/CNF)
Strong software development skills and understanding of software design and architecture principles
Some experience with servers (e.g. Dell, HP) and firewall configuration (e.g. Juniper, Cisco) would be a plus
Basic understanding of Machine Learning would be a plus
Python, Java, C/C++, Rust, Bash
Operating systems: Linux (Debian, RHEL, Ubuntu, ...)
Virtualization / Containerization: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes
Networking tools and technologies: network emulation or simulation tools (e.g. ContainerLab, mininet), ONOS, OpenDayLight, TeraflowSDN, OpenFlow, P4, gRPC, REST
Version control / CI: Git, continuous integration pipelines
Autonomy, rigor, and strong analytical skills
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Strong interest in innovative and programmable networking technologies.
