Role: AI Grounding Specialist

Mission: To ensure that AI systems are grounded in accurate, relevant, and context-rich insurance data, reviewing high-quality retrieval pipelines, chunking strategies, and domain-specific knowledge bases.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Grounding Strategy Design

• Design and maintain chunking strategies (e.g., page-based, semantic, hybrid) for insurance documents.
• Optimize retrieval pipelines working with AI Engineer using metadata tagging, vector search tuning, and embedding selection.

2. Domain Knowledge Integration

• Curate and structure insurance-specific Information provided by Business Team (e.g., QnA , policy documents, claims records, underwriting manuals).
• Collaborate with Business SMEs to ensure accurate and up-to-date domain representation.

3. Evaluation & Quality Assurance

• Define and monitor grounding quality metrics: retrieval precision, hallucination rate, factual consistency.
• Conduct grounding audits and implement feedback loops for continuous improvement.

4. Compliance & Governance

• Ensure all data used in grounding complies with GDPR, FCA, and internal governance policies.
• Implement secure access controls and data lineage tracking.

Key Skills:

• Domain:
  • Deep understanding of insurance workflows and terminology.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in insurance data.
• Analytical:
  • Strong debugging and evaluation skills for retrieval and grounding issues.
  • Ability to translate business needs into grounding strategies.

Team Fit:

• Works with AI Architect to align grounding strategies with overall system design.
• Supports AI Engineer by providing high-quality, structured data and agreeing on retrieval logic.
• Collaborates with SMEs to ensure domain fidelity and relevance.
