SCOPE
The general farmworker reports to the Sr. Director Farm Operations and performs work involving the operation and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, as well as record keeping associated with maintenance and crop management practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating several different types of machinery, including but not limited to, tractors, mowers, harvesters, loaders and irrigation equipment as directed.
- Maintaining several different types of machinery and equipment, including but not limited to tractors, mowers, harvesters, planters, sprayers and irrigation equipment.
- Applying Agrochemicals and keeping records related to applications and crop management practices implemented.
- General farm maintenance
- Other duties and assignments as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to work in conditions typically found on a farm, and in a greenhouse setting with high humidity and extreme temperatures and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely.
- Ability to balance, reach and grasp while climbing on a step stool and/or ladder.
- Ability to stand, occasionally for extended periods, while performing job responsibilities.
- Ability to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working on a farm and operating farm equipment is desired.
- Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.
- Must work well in a team environment and have effective communication skills.
- Must have strong critical thinking and technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Must have good job performance and attendance records.
