Job duties and responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Processing classification functions for the Department of Insurance.
  • Reviewing requests by Division managers for individual reclassifications and making determinations as to the correct classifications.

Requests for studies are prioritized based on the number of studies currently being conducted and the urgency of the request. Many studies are conducted to address turnover concerns – sometimes trying to retain an employee, sometimes studying a vacant position before posting to see if another classification could result in fewer turnovers.

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. See the Education and Experience Equivalency Guide for details.

Bachelor’s degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
