JOB SUMMARY: The After School Enrichment (ASE) Site Coordinator ensures a high-quality, engaging, and developmentally appropriate enrichment experience for all participants. The ASE Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing program quality by supporting the implementation of engaging enrichment activities and coordinating with vendor instructors to ensure successful program delivery, effective communication, and a positive participant experience. This is a PT 2 position, with the benefits listed below.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of participants and vendor instructors at all times.
  • Provide guidance to vendor instructors while onsite in adhering to program quality standards.
  • Serve as the on-site point person during emergency situations and ensure vendor instructors and participants follow procedures as documented.​​​​​​​

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and execute program activities with school-aged program staff.
  • ​​​​​​​Supervise snack time with participants.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily attendance records.
  • Assist in daily participant arrival and departure procedures.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all employees, participants, parents, vendors, and volunteers.
  • Communicate any site, employee, vendor, participant, behavioral, or disciplinary problems to the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Keep assigned areas clean and sanitized as needed.
  • Ability to maintain and support high-quality programs.
  • Ability to make effective decisions and communicate well with fellow team members, vendor instructors, parents, and participant.
  • Actively uphold and contribute to the Wilmette Park District Comprehensive and Strategic Plan, including the Guiding Principles and Strategic Priorities.
  • ​​​​​​​Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents.
  • Obey the safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that is pertinent to the activities conducted by the department.
  • Become familiar with and follow safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District including, but not limited to fire, severe weather and evacuation procedures.
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed to immediate supervisor, or Human Resources/Risk Management division
  • Attend and participate in required safety training.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Previous experience in childcare or an educational setting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to engage with children in a warm, supportive, and structured manner
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependability, flexibility, and a team-player attitude.
  • Ability to lead or assist with games, group activities, and small projects.
  • Clear decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive energy, initiative, and a genuine interest in working with children.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
  • The noise in the work environment is generally moderate to loud.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within six months of hire (provided by WPD).
  • Complete annual District trainings, including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment, Avoiding Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens annually and Mandated Reporter training every three years.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The general work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment, with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The outdoor work area depends on the season.

HOURS:

  • Closely follows the 2026–2027 D39 School Calendar
  • Monday–Thursday: 3:00–5:00 PM
  • General hours of duty will be approved by the Recreation Supervisor-General Recreation.


Skills Required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Previous experience in childcare or an educational setting
  • Ability to supervise and ensure participant safety
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
