Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and input in design reviews, code reviews, and system-level engineering discussions.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
- Lead implementation of complex features, defect resolution, and system enhancements.
- Promote code quality, security, and engineering best practices within the team.
- Lead troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis for complex technical issues.
- Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party systems into existing environments.
- Support deployment, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
- Create and review technical documentation, system designs, and operational procedures.
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through sustainment.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Previous experience in a technical leadership role on a software project.
- Strong experience developing software in one or more languages such as C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
- Experience working in Linux-based environments.
- Experience supporting integration, test execution, and release activities across teams.
- Strong experience with SQL and relational database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL).
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as required.
- Previous professional experience with the Aegis Weapon System.
- Advanced academic degree in a STEM field
- Experience supporting development, modernization, or sustainment of complex software systems.
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and secure software development practices.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, containerization, or platform engineering concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and stakeholder communication.
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and ability to independently drive technical tasks to completion.
