Corporate Services - Corporate Finance & Treasury 

Status: (1) Contract Full Time - Up to 6 Months

Hiring Range: $105,754 - 118,974

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week



Who we are: Corporate Finance is a division of Finance, committed to maximizing the value of financial planning with a fixed control on long term financial strategic viewpoints and execution for the Region of Peel.

There are five service groups within Corporate Finance: Financial Policy and Development Financing, Accounting Services, Loss Management and Insurance Services, Financial Systems Development Support, and Peel Housing Corporation Finance.


What you will do in this role:  


The Advisor Capital and Financial Systems within Finance is responsible to promote, implement and update the Region of Peel’s ERP Strategies, specifically related to Finance functions to improve the user experience which impacts the entire Organization. This role acts as the Functional expert on ERP and a number of smaller applications and is responsible to be up to date on the product life cycle and roadmap, the functionality of the software, and how to best utilize the  software to benefit the Region.  This role will be primarily responsible for leading PeopleSoft Financials related projects/ initiatives and support the users in addressing PeopleSoft functionality issues. You will be an ambassador of change and champion the use of ERP across the Region, build confidence and provide support on PeopleSoft Financials related issues as needed.


Using your strategic thinking you will advise on how the ERP affects the Digital Strategy across the Corporate Finance functions and aligns the product vision to the organizational objectives of the Region.

  • Provides strategic consultation, seeks and shares expert knowledge of the Peoplesoft Financials and roadmap to plan ERP transition and implementation
  • Maintains up to date knowledge on the product and how best to leverage the Region’s investment to fulfill the needs of the organization
  • Builds relationships and collaborate, with the Change Management Specialist and key stakeholders in order to apply that roadmap to key initiatives in the Region
  • Leverages the Region’s investment in the ERP by ensuring the translation of the needs of the Region  
  • Develops project plans, develop requirements specifications and functional design definitions, play the lead role in developing testing strategies/plans, manage execution of testing on the changed/new functions and develop training strategies/plans for end users in the usage of these functions
  • Lead the development and maintenance of user procedures manuals
  • Lead the support for implementation of changes to the production system
  • Conduct research on the PeopleSoft functions to ensure system capabilities are maximized 

What the role requires:

  • University graduate in computer science or related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years experience needed in ERP.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in 3 of the following Financial disciplines: Purchasing, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Budgets Modules, Workflow
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered 

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to generate reports using tools such as Query, n Vision and Crystal
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Effective communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Good analytical abilities to interpret and evaluate issues and develop workable solutions
  • Understanding of financial management, capital budgeting, business planning and purchasing / contract management
  • Proven organizational, multi-tasking, time management, planning and project management skills to organize resources and manage priorities in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. Skills Required

  • University degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years of ERP experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in three financial disciplines, including Purchasing, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Budgets Modules, or Workflow
