Electronic Solutions develops the avionics, navigation systems, sensors and electromagnetic defense technology that help aircraft perform safely and with precision. FS CoE – Advanced Embedded Engineer

Advanced Embedded Engr will have technical responsibility and accountability of Architecting, designing and developing FMS software, Specifically FIDO, IO SW/Interfaces (AFDX, A429) and Thunderbolt Platform Adoption for Airbus nFMS program.

Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in design, product development, software and system integration. Working experience of Flight Management Systems product lines are preferred.

Qualification: B.E/B. Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics/Computers/Aerospace Engineering

Essential Skills:

This role will be primarily responsible for                                     

Execution Excellence

  • Takes technical responsibility for developing FIDO, IO SW/Interface (AFDX, A429) and Thunderbolt Platform Adoption for Airbus nFMS.
    • Hands-on experience in Embedded Software Development, Flight Management System Product Components for Airbus nFMS.
      • Working experience and knowledge in Flight Management Systems Product Development, Software/Systems Integration and expertise working with Aero Standards DO178B/C.
        • Own requirements, design, code, testing for FIDO and IO software components and integrating with Thunderbolt Platform.
        • Hands-on experience in Agile methodologies, DevOps/Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices.
        • Should have Proven Software programming/design expertise demonstrated on programs, especially C, C++, Ada
        • Working experience in configuration management tools like CC/CQ/DOORS/BitBucket/JIRA etc
        • Actively contribute towards growth initiatives by developing high-fidelity prototypes that support next-gen product evolution.  
        • Contribution to Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Quotation Estimates for responsible software components of the product.
        • Building relationships and collaborating with business partners and stakeholders in SBG’s / SBU’s. 
        • Willingness to travel based on business needs.

Technology and Business

  • Responsible for Software technical solution development (Design, Platform Adoption & ICD). 
    • Demonstrate thought leadership with focus on Software architecture with increased reusability and drive the reduction in the program cost.
      • Engages in software architecture, design, and requirement reviews as a key input provider, first level approver. 
        • Contribute to pipeline of rapid prototypes for the near-term risk avoidance to the program and medium-term features which bring revenue potential through PPV, POC, POVs / Agile model.
        • Prioritize work to Drive Innovation around market-backed themes aligned with GBE Strategy.

 

Strategic Impact

  • Active participation and contribution in growth workshops, develop new ideas on Latest Technologies. 
    • Imbibes and role model Honeywell Aerospace behaviors and values and participates in LPD initiatives as change agents.
      • Supporting GBE STRAP revenue targets through competitive intelligence and product line software architecture frameworks.
        • Support to build the IPT organization with sustained competencies and skills across Bangalore and Madurai. 
        • Nurture and preserve skills and competencies through continuously coaching, training, mentorship and appropriate job assignments; maintain technical competence and leadership.
        • Drive the NPD/RDE transformation strategies to improve on cost and cycle time with Built In Quality objectives.


Skills Required

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in design, product development, software and system integration
  • B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Computers, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Hands-on embedded software development experience for Flight Management Systems (FMS) product components
  • Experience with avionics interfaces and protocols: AFDX and ARINC 429
  • Experience adopting/integrating Thunderbolt platform and developing FIDO/IO software components
  • Knowledge and practical experience with DO-178B/C (avionics software certification standards)
  • Proven software programming/design expertise in C, C++, and Ada
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps/Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices
  • Experience with configuration management and ALM tools such as CC/CQ/DOORS/BitBucket/JIRA
  • Experience in software architecture, design reviews, integration, and owning requirements, design, code, and testing
  • Working experience of Flight Management Systems product lines
  • Willingness to travel based on business needs
  • Ability to contribute to estimates (BOE) and quotation estimates for software components
