A Day in the Life

         

         

The Advanced Analytics Analyst is an established professional individual contributor within the Corporate Audit Data Analytics team. This role supports the execution of data analytics projects that enhance audit effectiveness, strengthen risk insights, and improve efficiency through the use of data and technology. The Advanced Analytics Analyst partners closely with audit teams and technical stakeholders to design and deliver analytical solutions that support risk‑based audits, SOX activities, and advisory projects.

This role may require up to 30% travel to enhance collaboration and support the successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports the design and execution of data analytics solutions that enhance risk‑based audits, SOX activities, and advisory engagements.

  • Develops and executes data queries, data transformations, and analytical models using tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, Alteryx, or Power Platform.

  • Collaborates with audit teams and business partners to understand data requirements and translate business questions into analytical approaches.

  • Creates dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions that clearly communicate insights to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained for analytics projects, including objectives, data sources, data models, methodologies, and testing results in accordance with department standards.

  • Works with large enterprise datasets and evaluates data quality to support reliable analysis and conclusions.

  • Manages multiple assignments simultaneously in an organized and structured manner while tracking tasks and escalating risks or issues when appropriate.

  • Builds collaborative relationships across the Global Audit Department and with cross‑functional partners including IT, data teams, and business stakeholders.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and development in data analytics, audit analytics, and emerging technologies.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years of experience in Audit (e.g., Big 4 or similar), Internal Audit, Accounting, Finance, or another analytical role.

  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, or analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree, preferably in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

  • Foundational programming experience using tools or languages such as SQL or Python to support data analysis, automation, or data extraction.

  • Basic understanding of data mining, data transformation, and data modeling concepts.

  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP or other large ERP platforms.

  • Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.

  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.

  • Exposure to AI‑assisted analytics or coding tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate insights clearly across technical and non‑technical audiences.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$76,000.00 - $114,000.00


This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
