The Magento Developer will design, develop and maintain secure, scalable and high-performing Magento e-commerce solutions. The role will contribute to an effective digital commerce experience by implementing new functionality, improving existing platforms and ensuring that all solutions meet quality, performance and development standards.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver reliable and scalable Magento e-commerce solutions.
- Implement new features, integrations and platform enhancements successfully.
- Maintain secure, responsive and high-performing online stores.
- Resolve technical issues efficiently and minimise platform disruption.
- Improve the overall functionality and user experience of digital commerce platforms.
- Maintain high standards across coding, testing, documentation and deployment.
- Design, develop and maintain Magento-based e-commerce platforms.
- Build and customise Magento themes, modules and extensions.
- Develop and optimise front-end and back-end functionality.
- Integrate payment gateways, third-party services and RESTful APIs.
- Collaborate with project managers, analysts, testers, support teams and developers to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical and performance-related issues.
- Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices.
- Test solutions and support reliable deployment processes.
- Monitor and optimise site speed, security, scalability and overall performance.
- Maintain clear technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvements to the digital commerce experience.
Requirements
- Strong Magento development experience.
- Back-end web development experience using relevant server-side technologies.
- Proficiency in PHP, object-oriented programming and modern development frameworks.
- Front-end development skills, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and responsive design.
- Sound e-commerce knowledge, including payment gateways, checkout processes, catalogue management and security best practices.
- Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience using version-control tools such as Git.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively within a collaborative, on-site team.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Experience with performance optimisation, testing tools or Magento certification would be advantageous.
