This temporary position is located at 1915 Health Services Way, Raleigh, NC 27607- Wake County, with the Department of Health and Human Services.  

 
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $29.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  
 
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed in the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. 

Management Preferences:  

  • Provide support for statewide meetings, events, and outreach activities, including scheduling, logistics, document preparation, and accessibility arrangements. 
  • Maintain organized digital systems, tracking deadlines, preparing reports, and supporting contract and financial processes. 
  • Assist with creating and reviewing materials, managing communications, and serving as backup for key program services.
  • Support Deaf and Blind Staff through coordination of their Support Service Provider (SSP) services, including reviewing requests, securing providers, managing billing, and resolving payment issues. 
  • Offer limited direct SSP support, such as human guide assistance, helping staff access interpreters, and assisting with tasks that are inaccessible due to format or technology barriers
  • Support processing invoices and documentation while ensuring smooth navigation and communication access for team members.
  • Collect information from statewide staff regarding advocacy situations and bring information for review
  • Create and track reports of advocacy needs from the whole division and provide information to the Accessibility Program Resources Manager (ARPM).
  • Monitor, track, and follow up with staff regarding advocacy work and report to ARPM regularly. 
  • Directly support the ARPM by scheduling meetings, managing priorities, preparing materials, handling urgent requests, and serving as a backup when the manager is unavailable. 
  • Coordinate communication, collaborate with partners, assist staff with action items, and act as an escalation point for complex, advocacy-related issues. 
  • Support general home office operations through phone coverage, front desk assistance, document preparation, data organization, and effective communication across various formats.
