The Team You Will Join
This role will play an integral part in the UK Reinsurance line of business of Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). The RIS business, one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife, has a wide variety of products, including pension risk transfer products, UK Reinsurance, GIC/Funding agreements, stable value products, structured settlements, Institutional Income Annuities and PRB & SBR Products.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will report to the Director & Actuary, UK Reinsurance, and support the continued new product development and client expansion as well as regular management of collateral operations and reporting for the UK Funded Reinsurance product in alignment with MetLife's enterprise strategy. This position will develop external client relationships as it relates to market, business and operational strategy for the product. This is a visible role to senior leaders within the RIS Leadership Team and other business & corporate functions, allowing opportunities to influence management decisions and drive results. This position also interacts closely with the RIS business and functional partners, including Investments, Operations/Administration, IT, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Actuarial, Pricing, and Finance. As a leader within the team, the candidate will be a key contributor to the growth of the business and management of the growing in-force block to create value for RIS.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Maintain and develop strong external client relationships with various UK Reinsurance cedant and broker partners
- Key contributor to the continued product development of UK Funded Reinsurance including, but not limited to, participating in new client negotiations, collaborating closely with investment teams to interpret and challenge investment guidelines and key commercial terms, and developing robust client collateral reporting capabilities
- Lead the regular collateral management and monthly exposure reviews for all cedants, confirm required collateral amounts meet contractual obligations and compliance with cedent Investment Guidelines
- Create strong operational controls and procedures for adhering to contractual requirements
- Experiment with and develop new tools and procedures to streamline collateral operations
- Lead by example to reinforce a culture of listening, accountability, collaboration, and transparency, creating an inclusive and diverse environment where all voices are encouraged.
- Partner and collaborate with Finance, Investments, Pricing, Valuation, R&D, Risk, and Legal to structure deals and manage the in-force business
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, or related discipline
- FSA, ASA or CFA with 5+ years of insurance and/or reinsurance industry experience with comprehensive business knowledge
- Ability to understand technical product contracts as it relates to implementing collateral calculations and complying with investment guidelines
- Strategic and analytical thinker with ability to focus on details, synthesize broad amount of information into actionable information for executives. Able to quickly spot issues and develop a recommended approach.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment
- Self-starter with ability to effectively manage multiple processes and priorities simultaneously
- Team player with ability to build broad relationships internally and externally
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in written form across all levels of the company
- Attention to detail and accuracy

- General understanding of institutional asset management and portfolio analysis
- Strong technical skills and experience with automation and reporting tools
- Understanding of reinsurance strategies and annuity products
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $114,000 - $152,100. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
