Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Actuarial Pricing Associate in our North America Insurance Pricing team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Price property, casualty, and specialty business in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Perform transactional analysis and risk assessment for submissions across multiple business units.
  • Design, build, and refine actuarial models, rating tools, and assumptions to support pricing strategies and respond to emerging trends.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and pricing actuaries to incorporate relevant business insights into pricing decisions.
  • Communicate and present pricing analyses, strategic insights, and actuarial results to underwriters, senior management, brokers, and clients, while resolving complex data issues.
  • Lead business unit meetings, ensure actuarial reporting complies with standards, and manage relationships with third-party actuaries and auditors.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of Property & Casualty insurance or reinsurance experience, with expertise in specialty lines.
  • Advanced knowledge of property catastrophe price monitoring and actuarial experience/exposure rating techniques.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Must have passed a minimum of 4 Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society exams and on the path for achieving ACAS designation
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI, R, and Python, with advanced programming skills preferred.
  • Strong analytical, strategic problem-solving, and model-development capabilities, with the ability to turn concepts into actionable solutions.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and apply actuarial insights across business lines.

Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of property and casualty insurance or reinsurance experience, including specialty lines expertise
  • Advanced knowledge of property catastrophe price monitoring and actuarial experience and exposure rating techniques
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Passed at least four Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society examinations and pursuing the ACAS designation
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI, R, and Python
  • Advanced programming skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic problem-solving, model-development, communication, organization, and presentation skills
