The Role

Position Summary

By innovating the connection of risk and capital, Velocity Risk delivers specialty property insurance in catastrophe-prone communities. As our Pricing Actuarial Analyst, you will be at the intersection of traditional actuarial science and next-gen data science. You will fuel the company's competitive edge by leading actuarial support in pricing sophistication, predictive analytics, and data-driven decision-making. This role will challenge you to step outside your comfort zone and join a unique, collaborative team environment that allows you to learn from others and redefine the modern actuary.

What will your job entail?

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining advanced pricing models using machine learning techniques
  • Building dashboards or tools for other teams utilizing Tableau
  • Monitoring top-line and bottom-line performance for necessary adjustments
  • Developing and presenting segmented rate indications
  • Testing new or existing 3rd party data sources for predictive power and integrating new data sources into pricing models
  • No interaction with rate filing

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python required
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field
  • Experience with generalized linear models, unsupervised learning, and other ML techniques
  • Ability to relocate / commute to Nashville, TN 37215

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with catastrophe pricing/modeling and Commercial Lines property experience
  • Familiarity with Tableau or PowerBI
  • Familiarity with R
  • One to Three Preliminary Actuarial Exams

The target salary range for this position is $64,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
