Essential Functions:
Oversees actuarial resources and provides expertise on cross-functional projects, including applying advanced actuarial theory, overseeing rate and reserve reviews, coordinating the timing and resources of projects, researching industry best practices, performing analysis at account/policy level, leading actuarial analysis for branch business planning and enterprise financial projections, overseeing the enhancement and efficiency of existing data and analytic processes, and Assumed Reinsurance.
Provides strategic insight and direction for the development, maintenance, enhancement, and documentation of actuarial tools and techniques required for project or production work.
Leads the innovative research and analysis of special projects.
Serves as subject matter expert for any special requests involving actuarial function(s) and EMC’s products.
Utilizes programming languages such as SQL or R for complex pricing and and/or reserving analysis.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Business Administration with a major in Actuarial Science, or related field
5 years of experience as an Actuarial Consultant, Senior Actuarial Associate, Actuarial Analyst, Actuary, or similar duties under a different job title.
5 years of experience with:
Pricing and reserving in at least 3 lines of business such as Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Commercial Auto, Surety, and/or Assumed Reinsurance
Advanced modeling experience in Excel
Programming in R, SAS, VBA, or SQL
ACAS or FCAS designation required.
Work site: Des Moines, Iowa with the option to work from home a few days per week. Must reside within commuting distance of the Des Moines Metro.
Salary range between $149,157 - $175,103.50/yr
