As Actuarial Associate, you will develop assumptions for Guardian's Individual Markets Life Insurance and Annuity business, perform analysis that will shape business strategies, and help manage assumption governance. You will work with large datasets to add value to the business. This is a visible role that involves collaboration with multiple areas, including pricing, product development, finance, data science, and underwriting.
An actuary with a passion for analysis and the ability to communicate that analysis effectively to a wider audience. You are skilled at applying actuarial principles, logic, and business knowledge to solve complex problems with incomplete information.
- 5+ years of experience
- ASA designation from the Society of Actuaries
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and lead projects
- Experience working with large datasets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Python
- Knowledge of life and annuity products a plus
- Prepare experience studies and develop assumptions by analyzing large datasets and understanding relevant business and modeling considerations.
- Work in team of actuaries and data engineers to develop and enhance datasets for experience studies and other use cases.
- Work with reporting team to build automated reports
- Explore AI applications to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of experience studies.
- Manage Individual Markets assumption governance committee and assumption inventory.
- Perform ad hoc analysis.
- Communicate the results of analysis through well-organized and documented spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, memos, and emails.
As our Actuarial Associate, you will report to our Senior Actuary, who reports to our Head of Inforce Management and Strategic Initiatives.

$114,080.00 - $187,415.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
