About the Role
Donegal Insurance Group is looking for a motivated Actuarial Analyst to support our team with the ratemaking process for commercial lines of business as well as capital modeling. This role will involve data analysis, forecasting, and reporting to ensure that our future pricing is set appropriately in order to achieve overall profitability goals. You will be working alongside experienced actuaries to develop your technical skills and contribute to the overall financial stability of the organization.
This position is located at our corporate office in Marietta, PA, with hybrid scheduling available after the first year of employment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform semiannual profitability reviews using various actuarial methods and tools
- Analyze loss, claim, exposure, and premium data to determine appropriate pricing
- Work with Product Development and Underwriting to develop proposed rate level changes and support the filing of changes with various state Departments of Insurance
- Assist with capital modeling efforts and reporting of results to senior management
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency of recurring analyses
- Build and run data reports for requests both inside and outside of the department
- Collaborate with Enterprise Analytics team to share knowledge and insights across teams and ensure informed, data-driven decisions
Qualifications and Skills
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Data & Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
- Pursuing an actuarial designation in the Casualty Actuarial Society including successful completion of one or more Actuarial exams
SKILLS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Required technical skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Basic knowledge of SQL (intermediate knowledge preferred)
- Preferred technical skills
- Basic knowledge of C/C++, Python, VBA, or other programming language
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power BI

Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 annually. The specific offer will vary based on an applicant's education, qualifications, professional experience, skills, abilities, and any applicable designations/certifications. The posted pay range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience. The pay range may also be adjusted based on an applicant's geographic location.
The base pay is just one component of Donegal's total compensation package for employees. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
