Actuarial Analyst
Location: South Sioux City, NE (Relocation package available for this position).
Launch Your Actuarial Career with Great West, An Old Republic Company
Great West is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our team at our corporate headquarters in South Sioux City, Nebraska. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or early-career actuarial professionals who are eager to build a career in Property & Casualty insurance.
As an Actuarial Analyst, you'll develop the skills of a modern actuary—using data, business judgment, and actuarial analysis to help drive decisions around risk, pricing, profitability, and growth. You'll work alongside experienced actuaries to support rate development, pricing analyses, and other insights that strengthen underwriting and risk management decisions. This role offers the opportunity to build a strong actuarial foundation while developing the communication, collaboration, and business acumen needed to influence real business outcomes. Working closely with business leaders and actuarial professionals, you will learn to move beyond technical analysis alone by connecting actuarial work to real business questions, clearly communicating what the numbers mean, and helping translate analysis into practical recommendations.
What You'll Do
- Analyze and interpret insurance data to support pricing, reserving, and profitability initiatives.
- Perform actuarial analyses using statistical techniques and predictive modeling methods.
- Assist with rate filings, loss trend studies, and reserve analyses.
- Develop and maintain actuarial reports, models, and dashboards.
- Prepare presentations and reports for actuarial leadership and business stakeholders.
- Identify trends and opportunities through detailed data analysis.
- Collaborate with underwriting, finance, claims, and other business areas to solve complex business problems.
- Support ongoing process improvement and automation efforts.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
- Successful completion of two actuarial exams preferred.
- Interest in pursuing continued actuarial credentialing through the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with data analysis and programming tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with actuarial modeling and statistical concepts is preferred.
