Encova Insurance is seeking an Actuarial Analyst for our Columbus, OH location. We can hire at multiple seniority levels depending on candidate qualifications that will be evaluated during the interview process. The compensation range shown is inclusive of an Actuarial Analyst I, II and III.
This role will report to Vice President, Product Actuarial.

JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Product Actuarial Analyst II will be responsible for pricing property and casualty insurance products with a focus on rate indications and profitability improvements. Partner with business profit centers to support profitable growth goals and strategies. Design and implement improvements to methodologies and processes. Duties will be performed independently with minimal guidance from the manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop rate indications following standard actuarial practices.
2. Review specific components of rating plans using internal profitability data and competitive analysis.
3. Calculate impacts of proposed rate, rule, and form changes.
4. Prepare rate filings and work with state insurance departments as needed to gain regulatory approval.
5. Track changes made by ISO and the Workers Comp rating bureaus.
6. Present findings, predicted outcomes or implications, and recommendations to business partners.
7. Support maintenance and development of actuarial pricing models.
8. Provide clear documentation as part of governance processes.
9. Design and implement actuarial methodology or process changes, to meet division needs.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Ad hoc analyses or reporting to support business partners and provide actuarial background on financial results.
2. Mentor and train newer Technicians and Analysts.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. A B.A. or B.S. degree is required, with preference given to majors in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science.
2. A minimum of three years of actuarial experience is preferred.
3. A minimum of three actuarial exams, with commitment to ongoing pursuit of actuarial credentials from the Casualty Actuarial Society, is preferred.
4. Expert level spreadsheet (Excel) skills.
5. Programming experience preferred (SAS, SQL, R, Python).
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong communication skills to relay complex technical material to a variety of audiences.
8. Strong knowledge of rate indications methodology and rating plans for assigned products.
