Business Unit Overview
This position is part of Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services global teams. Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Position Details:
- Duration: 1 year
- The role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Employee Expenses.
- The trainee will rotate through these departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of our financial operations.

Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable – Incoming invoices:
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in month-end closing activities.
- Employee Expenses:
Review and process employee expense reports in Concur
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Assist in the preparation of expense analysis reports.
- Accounts payable - Payments
Prepare manual and regular payments in the bank.
Propose changes to master data to payments specialist in case of any
deviations in the payment file.
Allocate payments according to the statement from the bank.
Review and assess bank templates correctness.
The plan of the rotation will be set-up at the beginning of the program and the sequence of the Departments can be changed based on the priority of the organization.
For each part of the responsibilities will be set up separate plan and will be evaluated separately at the end of the assignment.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data from various sources and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and Self-learning capabilities.
- Ability to find solutions, not only causes
