Position Overview:

Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions and financial reports. This role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial reports, management of financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing leadership to accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Oversee and review accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Ensure proper coding of expenses and receipts in compliance with company policies
  • Resolve discrepancies or issues related to invoices or payments

General Ledger & Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting staff
  • Prepare financial reports and schedule for management and auditors

Month-End and Year-End Closing:

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close procedures
  • Review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare year-end financial reports for external audit purposes

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Analyze budget variances and make necessary adjustments

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS)
  • Identify and recommend improvements in accounting processes and controls

Staff Management & Training:

  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff, including reviewing their work and offering development opportunities
  • Help foster a collaborative and positive team environment

Financial Analysis:

  • Prepare financial analysis and ad hoc reports for senior management
  • Identify trends and variances in financial performance and provide insights for decision-making

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
  • Work with external tax advisors to ensure timely filing and compliance
Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks,) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS)
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required during peak reporting periods (e.g., month-end, year-end)

Skills Required
