SUMMARY

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and administrative accounting activities for the Brazil operation. This position serves as the primary local accounting resource and works closely with operations management, Shared Service Center (SSC) teams, external accounting advisors, and corporate finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, timely transaction processing, and compliance with company policies.

This role requires a hands-on accounting professional who can independently manage routine accounting functions while providing financial insight and support to local management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial operational results.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Review account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in coordination with SSC.
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, accruals, and cost allocations.
  • Support preparation of management reports and financial analysis.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Management

  • Oversee vendor invoice processing and payment activities.
  • Monitor customer collections and outstanding receivables.
  • Coordinate with operations and SSC teams to resolve payment and billing issues.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management for location(s).
  • Ensure proper documentation and approval of financial transactions.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance (this may be reasonable to shift to SSC now but was previously a local responsibility).

  • Coordinate payroll processing with external payroll providers.
  • Ensure accurate submission of payroll-related information.
  • Support compliance with Brazilian labor regulations (CLT).
  • Liaise with external accountants and advisors regarding tax filings and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective internal controls over financial transactions.
  • Support internal, external, tax, and compliance audits.
  • Identify and communicate control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of process improvements.

Operational & Administrative Support

  • Partner with local management to support operational decision making.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and fixed asset records.
  • Assist with implementation of new systems, processes, and corporate initiatives.
  • Support special projects and activities as assigned.

Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to local administrative staff.
  • Establish priorities and monitor workload distribution.
  • Train employees on accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Promote a collaborative and service-oriented work environment.
  • Support employee development and process improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation or postgraduate studies considered an asset.

Experience

  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience in multinational organizations preferred.
  • Experience supporting operations, oilfield services, laboratory services, or industrial environments is advantageous.
