Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst to join our team in Jamaica. In this role, you will assess application-only credit submissions by evaluating asset loan-to-value (LTV) ratios, reviewing the personal credit of guarantors, analyzing business credit histories, and reviewing personal and business background information to support sound, fast-paced credit decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze credit applications for equipment financing using an application-only process.
Evaluate the personal credit profiles of individual guarantors, including credit bureau reports and payment histories.
Review business credit reports and history from sources such as D&B, Paynet, or similar.
Conduct personal and business background checks to identify any potential credit and/or character concerns.
Utilize public records, online searches, to verify applicant information.
Review and assess the loan-to-value (LTV) of equipment being financed based on market data and internal guidelines.
Concise communication with broker partners when additional information is needed to decision a transaction.
Summarize findings and provide clear, concise recommendations to the approving authority.
Maintain accurate credit files and ensure all documentation is captured in internal systems.
Verify and maintain the accuracy of all data entered the system, including applicant and business names, asset classifications, and other relevant information.
Work closely with sales and operations teams to support timely and efficient deal processing.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in credit analysis or underwriting, preferably in equipment finance or small-ticket commercial lending.
Solid understanding of credit reports, scoring models, and risk assessment for both individuals and businesses.
Familiarity with credit bureau platforms (e.g., Equifax, TransUnion) and business credit tools (e.g., D&B, Experian).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard productivity tools.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and decision-making ability.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing credit parameters influenced by market trends, portfolio performance and new initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with application-only lending models or automated credit decisioning platforms.
Familiarity with various equipment types in transportation, construction, or manufacturing.
Exposure to CRM or credit management systems (e.g., Salesforce, nCino, or similar).
Typing Speed Requirement: 25 wpm
